World’s Ugliest Dog

World’s Ugliest Dog

This is what I see in the mirror when I wake up. Actually, this dog has been declared the ugliest in the world.

Great Sunday

We had a great day yesterday in God’s house. Yesterday morning the alter was full of people doing business with the Lord. I sense the Lord was really moving in our midst yesterday.

Also, I baptized Peyton Houston yesterday morning. Peyton gave his heart to the Lord the week of VBS.

I have baptized three children in the last three weeks. Kylee Zeagler, Jenna Roberson, and Peyton Houston.

Praise the Lord! We give Him all the glory!

Again, I want to say thanks to all who have taught these children the Word of God and poured your lives into them. God will richly reward you for your faithfulness. You planted seed in these children that led them to faith in Christ.

Galatians 6:9 says, ”Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Stay faithful. Stay focused on the mission.

Last night we had a wonderful service as well. I preach on spiritual warfare and the church. I talked about our mission as a church which is to ”make disciples.” We need to make discples, baptize disciples, and teach disciples.

Only fully trained disciples are ready to engage in spiritual warfare. It is our responsibility as a church to fully disciple all who come to Christ.

At the end of our service last night we had a time of prayer for Judy Stegin and Kim Riggs. They both will be having surgery.

Judy will be having surgery Tuesday morning. Please be in prayer for her and her family.

Kim will be having surgery in July. Pray for the success of her surgery as well.

God is Good,

Chris

Christian and Muslim

[From Seattle Times]

Shortly after noon on Fridays, the Rev. Ann Holmes Redding ties on a black headscarf, preparing to pray with her Muslim group on First Hill.

On Sunday mornings, Redding puts on the white collar of an Episcopal priest.

She does both, she says, because she’s Christian and Muslim.

Redding, who will begin teaching the New Testament as a visiting assistant professor at Seattle University this fall, uses this analogy: “I am both Muslim and Christian, just like I’m both an American of African descent and a woman. I’m 100 percent both.”

Read about it here.

Here’s the TRUTH:

Jesus said in John 14:6

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Islam and Christianity are not compatible. And you can’t be both.

Mrs. Redding needs to get off the fence, and give her life to Jesus.

His Dotted Line

One of my heroes of the faith is Vance Havner. He is with the Lord now but his writings still live on.

This morning, I was reading in one of his devotional books and I was so challenged by it I wanted to share it with you.

It was entitled ”By My Spirit”

… ”Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” ( Zechariah 4:6 )

The secret of the early church is simply that it was Spirit-filled and Spirit-directed. Throughtout Acts, ”the holy Spirit said…” and Christians obeyed. They were guided and operated by a Higher Power.

Today the Holy Spirit uses some of our plans, and again He works in spite of some of them. At some points, our programs and His run parallel; at others, we are going in different directions.

Like Ahab and Jehoshaphat, we draw up our strategy and ask God to bless it instead of asking God for the strategy. We write the score and expect Him to play it. We plot the course and expect Him to follow it. We expect God to sign on the dotted line.

We need to return to the absolute sovereignty of the Holy Spirit. He takes no orders from us. He is not the flunkey of the religious top brass.

Are we so in love with our plans that we are unwilling to bow to His? Are we ready to throw our project into the wastebasket if He decrees otherwise? Would we accept revival if it started in another denomination or in some other church than ours? Would we say ”Amen” if God started an awakening on the other side of the railroad tracks or in some country other than ”Christian America?”

Are we ready to sign on His dotted line?

Think about that,

Chris

Winners

1 Corinthians 9:24 ”Do you not know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.”

1] Winners think the right kinds of thoughts.

Winners think thoughts that are positive, correct, big, and pure. Every action begins as a thought, so make sure your thoughts are taking you in the right direction.

2] Winners say the right kinds of words.

Winners know that the words they speak have tremendous power. Words can heal or hurt, build up or tear down. Winners use words that heal and build up.

3] Winners set specific goals.

Write down your goals and plan to achieve them, and work on your plans every single day.

4] Winners take responsibility for their actions.

Winners don’t whine about what they can’t control. They don’t look for someone or something to blame for their lack of success in life. Instead, they take responsibility for who they are and strive to do the best they can with the hand they’ve been dealt.

5] Winners choose the right kinds of friends.

The people with who you surround yourself can help you succeed, or they can cause you to fail.

Hang around people who are able to bring out the best in you, who share your belief in God, and who are wise, loyal, and encouraging at all times.

6] Winners turn failures into strengths.

Winners understand that failure is an inevitable part of life and they do everything they can to learn and grow from their mistakes.

7] Winners go the extra mile.

Winners do more than is expected of them. They work harder on the job. They try harder in their relationships. They spend more time trying to develop their gifts and talents. They go the extra mile.

8] Winners never give up.

Barbara Bush said of her son George W., ”Whether you like him or not, he’s tenacious.”

No matter what obstacles seem to be in their way, winners keep puttng one foot in front of the other, heading directly toward their goal.

9] Winners remember that character counts.

Winners are constantly working on their character.

10] Winners live by faith.

Accepting Christ as your Savior isn’t where the adventure ends. That is just the beginning of the most amazing, incredible exciting life anyone could ever experience.

”Run in such a way that you may win.”

Remember, we are on the winning team,

Chris

Why,Why,Why?

There nothing like starting they day with a few ”why” questions.

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting dead?

Why do banks charge a fee on “insufficient funds” when they know there is not enough money? Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Why doesn’t glue stick to the bottle?

Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?

Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an “S” in the word “lisp”?

If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?
How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures? Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that’s falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

Later, I’ve got real work to do.

Chris

Great Father’s Day

It all started yesterday morning at our Men’s breakfast. We had 31 men present. Grady Zeagler and his cooking team cooked a tremendous breakfast. Thanks to him and his team for their work.

After breakfast we watched a DVD of Dennis Swanberg entitiled ”He Called Me Champ.” A Tribute to Dads. I believe all the men enjoyed it.

We also had a great Morning Service. I sensed the Lord was in the house and working in hearts.

Bill and Toni Rollins joined our fellowship yesterday morning. They are a great couple and we are delighted to have them join the church.

Alos my daughter, Jenna made her profession of faith public yesterday morning and I had the great privilege of baptizing her on Father’s Day. Apart from my personal salvation there has been no greater joy in my life than leading Jenna to Christ and baptizing her.

God is so Good!!!

Chris

Good Evening!

Well, I’m glad to be back home after a couple of days at Six Flags. We had a wonderful time there with our teenagers. It was Atlanta Fest at Six Flags. They have Christian music groups there and speakers.

Thursday Night we heard David Nasser speak and he brought a great message.

We heard Newsboys in concert and it was one of the best Christian concerts I’ve experienced. They really ministered to me, and I believe everyone in our group really enjoyed them and got something out of it.

Overall we had a fun and safe trip. Thanks for praying for us!

I thank the Lord for Kyle and Tami. They do a wonderful job with our youth. Lift them up in prayer everyday.

I am looking forward to tomorrow morning for our Father’s Day’s breakfast at 7:30.

After breakfast we are going to watch a Dennis Swanberg DVD about Father’s entitled ”He Called Me Champ.” Please pray that it really miinsters to our men.

I’m also looking for to our Morning service tomorrow.

Come tomorrow morning Expecting: expecting God to move and expecting lives to be changed.

Come with a heart that is open to what God will do – not just in others, but in YOU.

Have your spiritual eyes and ears open so that you don’t miss what God says and what He does.

I can’t wait until tomorrow! See You There,

Chris
