Back In Church

“…As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall give praise to God.” – Romans 14:11

Will it take six strong men to get you back in church again? Six strong men to carry your body in a casket down the aisle?

The church is a place to worship, to be encouraged, to be spiritually rejuvenated, and a place to learn what it means to have a true relationship with God.

There’s no perfect church because there are no perfect people. And imperfect people need God and the forgiveness and salvation He offers in Jesus.

I encourage you to get back in church. If six strong men have to carry you there, it will be too late.

See you Wednesday Night,

Chris

Convictions About Prayer

Michael Easley, President of Moody Bible Institute gives his personal convictions about prayer:

*A personal prayer life is more important than group or public prayer.

* The discipline or development of prayer is an indicator of growth, maturity, and intimacy with Christ.

* Prayer is a relationship , not a task.

* Prayer is recognition that my dependence is not partial but total.

* Our prayer will wax and wane.

* Pain, suffering, and problems may well be God’s motivators for us to pray.

* Eloquence in prayer is not important.

* Prayer is communication with the Creator of the universe. As a result, why use repetitious, dull, canned language to talk with God?

*Choosing good words, expressions, phrases that clearly articulate prayer is important.

* Keeping a journal or writing prayers helps us see, over time, more about ourselves than whether God ”answers” prayer.

* If prayer is important to Christ, would He leave His followers in a fog for all time.

As the Mennonites urged, pray until you have prayed.

Have a great day,

Chris

Timmy and Holly’s Wedding

Good afternoon, we’re about 25 minutes from the start of Timmy and Holly’s wedding. Everything looks beautiful and everyone is excited about the wedding.

Pray for Timmy and Holly as they begin their married life together. They are a wonderful young couple and I pray God’s special blessings upon their marriage.

I’ll see you tommorow morning,

Chris

What’s Next?

The Church of England leaders are warning that to call God “He” or “Lord” increases the danger of domestic abuse.

They also warned, that preachers shouldn’t use such language in their sermons and hymns that refer to God as “He” or “Lord” should be expunged from our hymn books. (The Berean Call, 7-11)

Give me a break! It’s not calling God the Scripturally correct terms “He” or “Lord” that causes men to abuse their wives. It’s the sinfulness of their hearts and the brutality of their actions.

God Is Good!!

Yesterday morning I baptized two more young people: Morgan McDaniel and Megan Pritchard.

Praise the Lord!

I had the joy of leading Morgan in a sinners prayer a couple of weeks ago.

Megan, held hands with her family in their living room and she ask Christ into her heart.

God is good all the time and all the time God is good!!

 See ya,

Chris

13 Years of Ministry At Pine Street

Today is my 13th anniversary at Pine Street. I know what some of you are thinking. How could he forget his wedding anniversary and remember his ministry anniversary.

I guess it’s because I’ve been in ministry longer. ( I know that’s lame but it’s the best I could come up with.)

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 13 years. I really didn’t think Pine Street would put up with me 13 days much less 13 years.

I just want to express thanks to the church for taking a chance on an untrained, unproven preacher. I will forever be thankful for your faith in me.

I know over the last 13 years I have failed in many ways as a preacher and pastor but I promise you that I am still trying to improve in those areas. You have been tremendously patient with me and I am very grateful for that.

I look forward to our future together. I believe God has something special for us to accomplish. Please continue to pray for me as I attempt to lead and shepherd you toward a fantastic future.

Thanks Pine Street,

Your Pastor,

Chris

Sunday Wrap-Up

This morning we had a great worship service. Morgan McDaniel made his profession of faith public this morning.

I had the priviledge Wednesday night to lead him in a prayer to receive Christ as his Savior.

Morgan is 11 years old and his brithday is July 4th. The fireworks came a week early for Morgan. He found his true freedom last Wednesday Night. For ”if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.” John 8:36

Morgan will be baptized next Sunday Morning. I hope you will come a celebrate this day with him.

This evening, after the storm we had a wonderful service. I preached on ”Exalting God in Worship.”

For those of you who were unable to attend, we missed you.

There will be no Wednesday Night services this week. I pray that you have a safe July 4th.

That’s all for now,

Chris
